Comments:

I was a gunnersmate trainee while on the Seattle. I made GMG-3 the month I was transfered to the USS Ponce LPD-15. I called Al Kasper a few times while working in Maryland, but I worked 7 days a week 12 hour days so we never had the chance to visit each other. I worked for Babcock and Wilcox for a few years and I ran into Frank Smith MR-2. He lives in Virginia and I'll get in touch with him to sign up on this web site.

Ship Story:

The best thing I can remember was the poker games in Ed Hubers office GMM-2. There was Tom Bass, Myself, Ed Huber, Brad Heaton, Turtle, Jerry Wayne Guy,Greg Scott, Joel T. Cooley, Dave McDonald, and Philip Buckler. Those were the days we would go into the marine supplies and have 5 or 6 pound cans of mixed nut, and play poker half the night!! The first Med cruise was fun also, plus coming from Bremerton to Norfolk was a blast all the GREAT sites we visited and all the fun we had was the best part of allot of our lifes!!!
