                                   Captain James Patrick Gigliotti, USN

Born in Missouri, Capt. Gigliotti graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 1979 with a Bachelor of Science in Oceanography. He later earned a Master of Arts in National Security and Strategic Studies from the Naval War College and completed training at the U.S. Naval Test Pilot School.

He served as an A-6E Bombardier/Navigator from 1980 to 1997, gaining extensive flight experience. His early assignments included staff duty at the Naval Sea Systems Command and flight test work at Naval Air Test Center, Patuxent River.

He then served as Commanding Officer, Attack Squadron 75 (VA-75) from 1996 – 1997. After USS Seattle he was assigned as Commanding Officer, USS Harry S. Truman (CVN-75): 2004–2006.  Following his sea duty Capt. Gigliotti reported for Norfolk for assignment as Assistant to the Deputy Commander, Joint Forces Command (USJFCOM): 2006–2007.

After retiring from active duty, Capt. Gigliotti joined Lockheed Martin Aeronautics, where he served as Director, F-35C and U.S. Navy Program Manager from 2013 to 2023. His roles included leadership in F-35 program management, ship suitability testing, weapons/lethality integration, and advanced development programs.

Capt. Gigliotti has been recognized for his leadership in both naval aviation operations and advanced aircraft program management. He is also a Trustee of the Naval Aviation Museum Foundation, supporting the preservation and promotion of naval aviation heritage.

Captain James Patrick Gigliotti’s career reflects a blend of operational command in naval aviation, strategic leadership in joint forces, and significant contributions to advanced aircraft programs. His service in the U.S. Navy and subsequent work at Lockheed Martin underscore a long-standing commitment to excellence in defense and aerospace.
