1969 - Signalman "A" School - Newport RI. - Barracks Filled With Cockroaches-You Can Hear Them Walking Around Inside The Wooden Partitions Between Racks-Spraying The Legs Of My Rack With Raid Before Going To Bed Every Night- Dumping My Shoes Out Every Morning- Waking Up With A Few "Unwanted Friends" Crawling Up My Arms - THEN - They Got A Clue - They Sent Us All Out And Bombed The Building With Some Insecticide - When We Were Allowed Back In...We Swept From One End Of The Building To The Other - There HAD To Be A Million In That Pile - And My Guess Is - NOT ONE Could Send Flashing Light Or Semaphore Messages BEFORE They Were Gassed !
