Gerald R. "Scope" McKenzie - Crew Of 1972

My father, Gerald R. McKenzie was on the Seattle from Dec 72 - Oct 76. Nicknamed "scope" He was a radar man. I have found some of his friends on facebook and have enjoyed all the stories and pics. Dad died in 2002.

Jerry Mason (1979)

 I too served aboard Seattle however, it was at Navmaclant Norfolk that I had the oportunity to serve with "scope" .  He was a great guy who kept all of us in "stitches" most of the time, some of us all the time.  Sorry to hear of your loss.

Dale Neuhard (1973)

I knew Chief McKenzie while serving on Seattle, stood many inport Quarterdeck watches together.  He and my Chief JT Moore were the best of friends.  They both brought us drinks while out on liberty if we ran into them at the same bars hangouts.

He was a great man and shipmates would do anything for anyone and was a great asset to the ship's crew.

Sorry to hear that you pass on but your in a much better place now.
